The HVAC Technician II is responsible for the efficient operation and maintenance of building automation systems, HVAC mechanical equipment, and cleanliness of assigned facility property machinery areas
Duties & Responsibilities: Responsibilities including but not limited to:
  • Installs, maintains and repairs heating, ventilation, air conditioning and boiler distribution equipment and systems to optimize energy use. These tasks include performing installation of main equipment sub-assemblies related to Chiller/HVAC compressors, evaporators, and condensers.
  • Installs, maintains and repairs computerized electric pneumatic and digital direct control devises, heat control such as fan coil units and performs hardware and software installation and configuration related to Chillers, HVAC units, and Air Handlers.  Other standard routine work includes changing filters, motors, belts etc...
  • Operates a variety of equipment such as hand tools, measurement/monitoring devices (such as DMM, Megger, Clamp meters), lap top computers and diagnostic hardware to perform work duties related to installation, repairs, troubleshooting, and equipment and building monitoring.
  • Performs preventative maintenance (PM) as per the established preventative maintenance program and demonstrates proactive maintenance procedures to ensure efficient operation of building Chiller/HVAC equipment.
  • Responds to and completes work requests on time for problems with the HVAC units or related systems. 
  • Interprets equipment drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams to support replacement/installation and commissioning of HVAC components or complete HVAC units, and for performing troubleshooting and system testing purposes.
    • Other duties include soldering or welding of Freon or water lines.
  • Ability to identify parts for equipment when drawing information is not possible or available and maintains a parts inventory for common repairs.
  • Ability to generate a material take-off list when tasks or projects are assigned.
  • Keeps organized documentation of service or work order (WO) records.
  • Participates in projects relating to the HVAC department and systems
  • Participate actively in established safety programs designed to provide a safe work environment.
  • Be able to enter work requests and related information into the computerized maintenance program for WO/PM completion and close-out and ability to print out WO and PM work orders.
  • Maintain a regular and dependable attendance.
  • Will work a rotational on-call schedule to be available on Wednesday evenings and early Sunday mornings to support Church events and Ministry service.
    • During on-call schedule candidate is required to carry a cell phone and be available to respond during working and non-working hours.
  • Must be able to work as a team but being independently self-driven to accomplish team and individual assignments and goals.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned.
 Basic Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of related experience, or 2 years’ experience with additional specialized training and or certificate
  • Requires an EPA Certification (having other industry recognized certification such as NATE is a plus)
  • Valid Driver License
  • Must be registered with TDLR (Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience with chill water and hot water heating and cooling units.
  • Previous experience with refrigerated chilling systems
  • Previous experience directly related to direct expansion air conditioning and gas fired heating systems
  • Previous experience with HVAC energy management programs and systems

Schedule:
  • 8-hour shift
  • Flexible on call when needed
  • Availability for Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings per a staff rotation schedule that is to be determined. (Every Wednesday night and Sunday morning is not a requirement.)
