The Potter’s House is seeking a passionate and flexible Community Lead to join our team! This position plays a key role in helping guests, members, and volunteers feel connected, supported, and spiritually engaged, both in-person and online.
We are currently hiring with an open specialty, meaning the right candidate may bring strengths in one of three key areas: Volunteer Experience, eChurch Engagement, or New Member Experience. While each Community Lead brings a primary area of focus, all are cross-trained and work collaboratively across the entire Community Department. Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a general point of contact for all Community-related needs—onsite and online
- Carry primary responsibility in one of the following areas, based on your background:
- Volunteer Experience: Recruit, onboard, and shepherd volunteers across ministry areas
- eChurch Engagement: Host and manage online service experiences and virtual community building
- New Member Experience: Welcome, follow up with, and guide new guests through their next steps
- Help lead Sunday operations, Wednesday night gatherings, and special events
- Support team communication, scheduling, and coordination across all areas of Community
- Respond to inquiries and needs from members, guests, and volunteers in a timely and pastoral way
- Collaborate with departments like Production, Marketing, and Ministries for aligned outreach
- Participate in department-wide meetings and initiatives, offering insight beyond your specialty
- Track key engagement data and contribute to ongoing improvement strategies

- Your assigned area runs smoothly and reflects excellence, empathy, and order
- You can confidently jump in and support other areas of the Community Team when needed
- You are a go-to person for collaboration, solutions, and Sunday presence
Shared Expectations for All Community Leads
- Be cross trained in Volunteer Engagement, New Member Experience, and eChurch Engagement
- Be able to step into another Community Lead’s function with short notice
- Help lead and support Sunday operations, Wednesday night services, and special events
- Respond to member and guest needs across all Community functions
- Meet weekly to align goals, updates, and growth opportunities
- Carry a spirit of hospitality, excellence, and teamwork in all settings
- Own key metrics and share insights during monthly team reviews
- Collaborate with other departments to support wider church initiatives
Basic Qualifications
- Experience in community engagement, volunteer management, digital ministry, or hospitality-based roles
- Interpersonal and communication skills
- Organizational and project management abilities
- Proficient with CRM systems, volunteer or membership platforms, and digital communication tools
- Commitment to the mission and spiritual life of The Potter’s House
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in church, nonprofit, or community leadership
- Familiarity with volunteer coordination, digital church platforms, or new member care
- Ability to work Sundays and some weekends for events as part of a flexible schedule
